Frequently asked questions

What can I expect from therapy?

The first few sessions will consist of us getting to know each other and me getting an understanding of what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions about your past so I can better understand you and tailor my approach to best match your needs. As therapy continues, you can expect to receive a balance of support and constructive feedback that will help you make positive changes in your life. Therapy is a commitment, and I ask that you be invested in our work together.

How much does therapy cost? What about insurance?

My fee for a 45 minute therapy session is $185. I am an out of network provider, which means you’ll be responsible for the session cost up front. This allows me to offer a personalized approach to each client and provide high-quality care.

As an out of network provider, I can provide a receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement (many insurance companies will reimburse up to 50%-80% of the cost after you meet your deductible). You may also use an HSA/FSA to pay for sessions. To check if you have out of network mental health benefits, I recommend calling your insurance and asking the following:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? If so, what percentage will be reimbursed to me?

  • Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?

  • What is my deductible for out-of-network coverage and has it been met?

  • How do I submit claims for reimbursement?

While you can submit claims directly to your insurance, the reimbursify app makes it a pretty seamless process (they charge $3.99 a claim).

What is the expected length and frequency of therapy?

I recommend starting therapy with weekly or bi-weekly sessions so that we can dive into your story, build rapport, and gain traction on your goals. I will provide support for however long you need, and most of my clients find value in a longer-term therapeutic relationship. I’ve also worked with clients for years who have taken breaks and come back to therapy when new challenges arise. Everyone’s journey is different, and your time in therapy will depend on you and your needs.

Do you offer in-person therapy?

At this time, I am not offering in-person sessions. Therapy sessions take place through a confidential video platform (or phone call upon request). If you are looking for in-person therapy in Houston or Austin, I am happy to provide referrals to trusted colleagues of mine.

What if we are not a good fit?

That’s okay! Therapists are not meant to be a fit for everyone, and it’s so important to find a therapist that is right for you. If for any reason we are not a good fit to work together, I am happy to provide referrals to other therapists in the community.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule your therapy appointment, I ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice. If you cancel less than 24 hours of our appointment time, you’ll be charged the full session fee. You can cancel an appointment by sending me a text, email, or through the online portal.

How do I get started?

To get started with therapy, you can reach out to me directly here or book an appointment through my online calendar. If you have additional questions you’d like answered, I’m happy to offer a free 15 minute consultation call. If you feel pretty confident we’d work well together and are ready to get started, you can go ahead and book an initial session online.
