Therapist for Life Transitions

Therapy for Quarter-Life, Identity, and Existential Concerns

Feeling a sense of restlessness, wondering whether you’re on the right path, or questioning your purpose in life is something that most of us face throughout different phases of our life. This can show up through anxiety, depression, or even questions that feel overwhelming like, “is this the right career, partner, place to live?”, “what is my purpose here?”, or “does this all even mean anything?”.

Many people seek out therapy for support around stressful transitions or questioning their purpose in life. It may even seem as though other people seemingly have it “all figured out”. Even when we’ve been “successful” in certain areas, that doesn’t always reflect how we feel internally.

My goal in therapy is to help you understand yourself better and discover which decisions will lead to a life that feels meaningful and authentic to you. We’ll work collaboratively to identify your core values that will help guide decision making, and gain clarity around what’s truly important to you.

With new insight, you’ll have a greater understanding around who you are, what you want out of life, and how to achieve that vision for yourself.

How therapy helps with quarter-life concerns:

  • Discover what a meaningful, fulfilling life looks like to you.

  • Understand changes that need to be made to work towards a life you want.

  • Feel confident in decision making and understand what your core values are.

  • Strengthen self-awareness, confidence, and self-esteem.

  • Better manage emotions related to change and existential concerns.

  • Develop healthy coping skills for managing feelings of uncertainty.

Still wondering about therapy for quarter-life?

  • Therapy is all about self-discovery and exploration. We can’t change what we don’t yet know. If you’re feeling stuck and uncertain with how to move forward, counseling can help you understand how to make values-based decisions.

In therapy, I’ll provide a supportive space and give useful feedback that will encourage self-reflection. I’ll bring in practical tools for you to implement to better cope with stressful transitions and difficult emotions. We’ll explore how your past might be impacting your present day, and process any unresolved experiences that might be impacting how you feel about yourself.

  • I don’t typically assign structured homework, but my approach in therapy is solution-focused. This means we’ll discuss practical tools for you to implement outside of sessions so that you can get the most out of therapy.

  • I believe anyone can benefit from therapy if they are willing to do the work and have a good relationship with their therapist. If you are feeling uncertain around your readiness for therapy, you can always start with a free 15 minute consultation call so we can discuss what you’re seeking support around, and how I might be able to help you. You can get a feel for what it’s like speaking with me, and I’ll help determine if we’re a good fit to work together.

Therapy is a personal choice, and it’s totally normal to feel ambivalent or anxious about starting the process. Ultimately, only you can decide if you’re ready to start therapy.
