Therapy for Women in TX

Practical, effective therapy for self-esteem & self-worth.

Our relationship to our self is the most important, complex, (and potentially meaningful) relationship we will have throughout our existence. Our past experiences have shaped us in ways we may not even be conscious of. When we experience early childhood trauma, ruptures in our relationships, or incidents that trigger shame, this can disrupt our relationship to our self in devastating ways.

If you’re wrestling with insecurity, self-doubt, a harsh inner-critic, shame, perfectionism, etc. you’re not alone. Many people seek out therapy to address feelings of low self-worth and develop a healthier relationship and dialogue with themselves. When negative thought patterns are hard to break free from, therapy can be a valuable tool that helps you understand how to hold all of your parts with understanding and compassion — and find your way back to your authentic self.

How therapy helps with self-esteem:

  • Learn how to treat yourself with compassion and kindness.

  • Overcome feelings of shame & unworthiness.

  • Understand how your past has impacted the way you feel about yourself.

  • Challenge negative thoughts and create new, healthier thoughts and habits.

  • Learn how to actually practice self-care and self-love.

  • Process unresolved experiences that still impact you today.

Still wondering about therapy for self-esteem?

  • Absolutely. Your relationship with yourself doesn’t have to feel unhealthy. In therapy, you’ll learn how to be more compassionate towards yourself and discover how changing your self-talk can literally change how you feel and how you show up in the world. I’ll begin to challenge you (gently) when I notice your inner-critic coming up. We’ll work on bringing in a new perspective to create a healthier inner-dialogue and a more positive relationship with yourself.

  • Our time together will be collaborative and we’ll work on achieving your goals for therapy. We’ll start with exploring some of your past experiences and how they may have impacted how you feel about yourself. We might process unresolved experiences from the past, or focus more on the present/future with practical steps to improve your self-esteem. I’ll suggest any coping skills I think will be helpful for you to practice outside of sessions so you can get the most out of our time together.

  • I’ve been there, which is why my goal is to create a safe, nonjudgemental space for you to feel as comfortable as possible in therapy. It’s not uncommon for it to take a few sessions (or more) to feel comfortable opening up to your therapist. It’s so important for you to feel like your therapist is a good fit, and to trust that this is someone you can be vulnerable with.

This is why I offer a free 15 minute consultation call before starting therapy. During this call, you can get an idea of what it’s like speaking with me and I’ll help determine if we’d be a good fit to work together. From there, you’ll have the option to schedule an appointment. Therapy is a personal choice, and you get to decide when you’re ready to start the process.
